I. Types of Tea Bag Packaging Machines


Based on the degree of automation, packaging format, and final product, tea bag packaging machines can be primarily categorized as follows:

 

1. By Automation Level

Fully Automatic Tea Bag Packaging Machine:

 

Features: From feeding, bag making, filling, sealing, string and labeling, to outer bag packaging, all operations are automated.

 

Productivity: Extremely fast, capable of producing dozens to hundreds of bags per minute.

 

Applicable to: Large tea producers and professional OEM factories.

 

Semi-Automatic Tea Bag Packaging Machine:

 

Features: Some manual steps are required, such as placing the outer bag and adding tea leaves, but the core bag making and sealing steps are performed by machine.

 

Productivity: Slower, suitable for small-batch production.

 

Applicable to: Small tea factories, startup brands, and handicraft workshops.

 

2. By Tea Bag Shape

Double Bag Triangular Packaging Machine: Currently the most popular model, it produces tea bags in a three-dimensional triangular pyramid shape, providing ample space for the tea leaves to spread.

 

Flat Filter Paper Bag Packaging Machine: Produces traditional flat double-pouch bags (with hang tags and string).

 

Stick/Rod Tea Bag Packaging Machine: Used to produce stick-shaped tea bags like those from the "Cha Li" brand, convenient for hanging on the rim of a cup.

 

Round Nylon Bag Packaging Machine: Typically uses nylon filter cloth to produce round tea bags, commonly found in some fruit and floral teas.

 

3. Classification by Packaging Process

Heat-sealing: Uses filter paper with a heat-seal coating and heat-presses the bag. This is the most common method.

 

Ultrasonic Sealing: Uses ultrasonic vibration friction to generate heat for sealing. It eliminates the need for a heat-seal coating and is more environmentally friendly, but has material requirements.

 

Compression-bonding (Non-woven Bags): Some non-woven tea bags are sealed using mechanical compression.

 

II. Main Workflow of a Tea Bag Packaging Machine

 

Taking a fully automatic double-pouch triangle bag packaging machine as an example, its workflow is as follows:

 

Filter Paper Feed: Rolls of filter paper are automatically fed into the machine.

 

Forming: The filter paper is folded into a triangular, pyramidal, or other shaped bag.

 

Filling: A precise metering device is used to inject a measured amount of tea into the formed bag.

 

Sealing: The tea bag opening is sealed using heat, pressure, or ultrasound.

 

String and Labeling: Automated application of cotton string and labels to the tea bag.

Measuring device: Ensures consistent weight for each tea bag. Common types include rotary volumetric metering and spiral metering.
